With the rise of e-commerce, Ningbo is actively promoting the development of the e-commerce industry, considering it as one of the important directions for economic transformation and upgrading. Data shows that in 2022, the e-commerce transaction volume in Ningbo reached 1.6 trillion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of about 12%. Among them, the transaction volume of cross-border e-commerce reached 860 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of over 30%. The export cross-border e-commerce industry in Ningbo mainly focuses on industries such as food, handicrafts, clothing, shoes, toys, books, and electronic products. According to data from the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Commerce, as of 2022, nearly 70 companies in Ningbo have established and operated 209 overseas warehouses in more than 20 countries (regions) worldwide, with a total area of 2.93 million square meters, accounting for one-sixth of the country's total. Ningbo's cross-border comprehensive trial area platform has accumulated a total of 3,406 registered pilot enterprises, of which 1,949 are for export. These data indicate that Ningbo's export cross-border e-commerce industry is developing rapidly, and more and more companies are actively exploring the overseas warehouse market to find new business opportunities in adversity.

Ningbo is a renowned city in China's manufacturing industry, with over 40 national-level manufacturing champions (products). Its self-produced goods, including clothing, home textiles, hardware tools, stationery, kitchen appliances, home appliances, batteries, plastics, and metal products, have long been among the world's best-selling products. Ningbo is also a major city in China's foreign trade, ranking among the top five in the country's foreign trade exports, second only to Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Dongguan.
